Who We Are
CARITAS For Children is about building relationships encouraging charity and mercy, keeping consistent with our mission to inspire others to act in such a way as to promote the greatest commandment given, “to love God with one’s whole heart and one’s neighbor as oneself.” (cf.Matt.22:37-40). The word itself, CARITAS inspires, unites and promotes loving others.
CARITAS For Children
A Charity Helping Children Worldwide
CARITAS For Children provides financial assistance for the health, education and general welfare of orphaned and disadvantaged children. Through relationships with Catholic religious communities throughout the world, CARITAS brings a future and hope to children who have been born into a cycle of extreme poverty.
Working with the local Catholic Church in various countries, CARITAS For Children is able to develop programs in the field, where the poorest children and families live. Working with partners indigenous to the Program locale allows us to identify the most pressing needs of the children and families CARITAS serves. Almost all the work in the field is conducted, organized or managed by congregations of recognized Catholic men and women religious.
Even today, in the 21st Century, there are millions of orphaned, abandoned and impoverished children living without food, without education and without hope. These children should not be forgotten. Through Child Sponsorship, educational, and life skill programs CARITAS For Children in partnership with Catholic religious bring these children the resources needed to live a life of dignity and purpose.
As expressed in Charity in Truth, written by Pope Benedict XVI: “Charity is love received and given. As the objects of God’s love, men and women become subjects of charity, they are called to make themselves instruments of grace, so as to pour forth God’s charity and to weave networks of charity.”
Through its relationships with others, CARITAS For Children is weaving networks of charity. Join us as we continue with our mission to share in God’s love with others.
